The president-elect has vowed to be a climate-change “tyrant.”
But, as he prepares to be sworn in, Trump has been accused of stalling on his climate agenda and, in some cases, his promises.
The president-in-waiting, who has promised to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, has said he will not honor the deal’s terms, and the U.S. is the only country in the world that does not meet the goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions to keep the planet from becoming uninhabitable.
The White House has been trying to move quickly to fill the void, but the process is likely to take longer than expected, environmental groups say.
Trump’s administration is facing questions over whether it is fully in line with the terms of the agreement.
The Trump transition team did not respond to requests for comment.
